We have all felt it, so we know it’s real. Imposter syndrome. It sounds like some crazy thing you can’t get over. In reality Imposter syndrome is something we all feel because we compare ourselves to others. That doesn’t really work out in the art world though. As far as creating art goes we are all unique. Even if we are inspired by others. It’s the trying to be like someone else that gives us that feeling.
Sure you can be inspired by someone or their work but trying to replicate it isn’t really cool. You have to be yourself. You have to have your own unique style.
There is a saying that you never really know anything until you teach it to a child.
I believe this 1,000%
Children ask all the questions and you provide the answer. They help you think about what you are doing and put it into words to explain things to them. This helps you understand the who what why how and where just as much as it does for them.
They are creative and curious and have no problem exploring new things because that’s all they do….. everything is new to them. Seeing their ability to explore and experiment while also looking to you for guidance helps crumble up that imposter and toss it in the trash.
